Hydraulic Step Grate Biomass Boiler

Combustion System

TUFF's reciprocating grate utilizes specially engineered high-temperature alloy castings developed for the severe combustion conditions associated with straw fuels and agricultural residues. Combined with optimized grate geometry and advanced air distribution, the system effectively handles high-ash and alkali-rich fuels such as wheat straw, rice straw, cotton stalk, and rice husk, delivering reliable combustion performance, extended component life, and reduced lifecycle costs.

Fuel Flexibility

The boiler is built around a large capacity water tube double-drum furnace, designed to accommodate a wide range of biomass fuel types such as rice husk, mustard husk, corncob, wood chips, agricultural residues, palm kernel shells, and more. Its structural robustness ensures consistent performance under varying load conditions, making it ideal for industries with fluctuating process steam demands. Multiple primary and secondary air inlets strategically positioned within the furnace enable optimized combustion control, resulting in high thermal efficiency achieving up to 88%.

Sustainability

Tuff Boiler’s biomass boiler system represents a next-generation solution that combines intelligent design, high efficiency, and operational flexibility. It is a sustainable and cost-effective choice for industries seeking to transition to renewable energy sources while maintaining reliable and efficient steam generation.

Smart Choice

The boiler also features an integrated automatic cleaning system that continuously removes ash from the heating surfaces. This ensures optimal heat exchange, reduces maintenance frequency, and enhances operational reliability. For improved energy recovery and reduced flue gas temperatures, the system can be optionally outfitted with an economizer and air preheater, further improving overall system efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

For enhanced convenience and automation, the system can be equipped with an auxiliary oil or gas burner for automatic ignition and smooth start-up operations. The entire fuel handling chain, from feeding and ignition to combustion and slag removal, can be fully automated, significantly reducing manual intervention and operational complexity.
